The Off Season For Bikes Is Go-Time for Sleds

The Central Lakes Trail is a beautiful stretch of rail-to-trails paved biking that runs from Fergus Falls to Osakis. The trail connects with trails on either side making it a part of a much bigger trail system. It is a scenic path combining open prairies, woods and lakes. That being said, once the gorgeous fall leaves have fallen and the snow coats the path, it becomes a connector to hundreds of miles of snowmobile paths in West-Central Minnesota. In Douglas County the snowmobile trails are managed by DATA Trails. You can also connect to miles of trails in Otter Tail County

The Central Lakes Trail runs through Alexandria. This is a look at the trail as it waits for groomers to get the green light to get the 2022-2023 snowmobile season going.
The Central Lakes Trail passes right behind Alexandria’s iconic viking, Big Ole.
During much of the year, this sign is not a green light for traffic, but rather a reminder that lots of great rides are taking place in the middle of nature.

The CLT is the site for a lot of great bike riding during more than seven months each year.
You can barely see the trail as it gets wrapped up in the canopy of trees…. and sometimes you’re nearly surrounded by water.
The Central Lakes Trail is a great conduit to hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails in West Central Minnesota.
